Letting: A Bold Display Font for Marketers

It’s 9 PM on a Thursday, and the team is finalizing the visuals for a product launch. The client wants something fresh, something that stands out in a crowded digital space. We’ve tried a few options, but nothing feels quite right. Then we remember: Letting. This minimalistic display font has been on our radar for a while, but it’s only now that we’re really putting it to the test.

What Is Letting?

Letting is a unique, minimalistic display font that blends geometric shapes with a fresh, modern aesthetic. Its clean lines and balanced structure make it ideal for a variety of design applications. It carries a personality that’s both sophisticated and approachable, perfect for campaigns that need to communicate clarity without sacrificing style.

The font’s visual style is clean and uncluttered, making it highly readable even at smaller sizes. Its personality leans toward contemporary design, which means it fits well in digital environments like social media, web banners, and mobile previews. It doesn’t scream attention, but it commands it—especially when used strategically.

Real Campaign Use Cases

We started by testing Letting on a seasonal sale announcement. The headline needed to be bold, memorable, and easy to read across different platforms. Letting delivered. On desktop, it looked sharp and professional. On mobile, it maintained its clarity, which is crucial for quick scans in fast-moving feeds.

Next up was a YouTube thumbnail. The challenge here was to make the title stand out against a background image. Letting’s clean shape helped it pop without overwhelming the visual. We paired it with a subtle drop shadow to ensure legibility on dark backgrounds, and it worked seamlessly.

For Instagram posts, we used Letting as a headline for a content series. The font’s simplicity made it versatile enough to work with a range of color palettes and layouts. It added a touch of elegance without competing with the imagery or other design elements.

When Letting Shines

Letting excels in short headlines, callouts, and logo-style text. It’s not designed for long paragraphs or dense information, but that’s okay. Its strength lies in its ability to convey a message quickly and effectively. In campaign labels, decorative titles, and display text, it adds a premium feel without being over-the-top.

It’s also great for creating visual hierarchy. Whether you're designing a webinar banner, a course launch graphic, or an email promotion, Letting can help guide the viewer’s eye through the content. Its geometric structure ensures consistency across different formats, which is essential for brand recognition.

Readability and Practical Tips

One of the key considerations when using Letting is readability. On mobile screens, small previews, and thumbnails, it holds up well, especially when used at larger sizes. For dark backgrounds, a slight contrast adjustment can make a big difference. On light backgrounds, it remains crisp and clear.

When used in fast-scrolling feeds or image overlays, Letting benefits from careful spacing and sizing. It works best when it’s not competing with too many other design elements. For example, in a Pinterest campaign, pairing it with a clean sans serif font can create a balanced look that’s both stylish and functional.

When Not to Use Letting

There are situations where Letting might not be the best choice. For long copy, dense information, or formal corporate communication, it may lack the subtlety and versatility required. In these cases, a more traditional serif or sans serif font would be more appropriate.

Additionally, tiny text or low-resolution displays could make Letting appear less refined. It’s important to check how it looks in different file formats and screen sizes before finalizing any design.

Font Pairing and Design Considerations

Letting pairs well with a range of other fonts. A clean sans serif, like Montserrat or Lato, can provide a strong counterbalance. A serif font, such as Playfair Display, adds a touch of elegance. For a more creative approach, a script or handwritten font can introduce a personal, artistic feel.

Before using Letting in any campaign, it’s worth checking the included styles, alternates, ligatures, and weights. These features can greatly enhance the font’s flexibility. Also, ensure that it supports the languages you’ll be using, and confirm the commercial licensing terms if you’re planning to use it in client projects or branded content.

Letting is more than just a font—it’s a tool for storytelling, branding, and audience engagement. When used correctly, it can elevate your designs and make your message more memorable. Whether you’re working on a seasonal sale, a product teaser, or a content series, Letting offers a fresh and effective way to communicate your brand’s voice.
